Moving through adulthood, we tend to reflect on the legacies left by grandparents passed. This short documentary looks at the relationship between Jentinus Tabak, a Dutch immigrant who moved to New Zealand in the 1950's and Hannah Tabak his grand daughter.
Jentinus was a person who loved his family fiercely and ruled the roost. He taught his grandchildren with affection but the biggest lesson was to make the simple things, the big things. He learned this lesson growing up in war affected Holland where rationing and restrictions were common. In his new home of Christchurch the quality time he spent with his family enjoying caravan holidays, playing soccer and working in the vegie garden are just some of the pictures Hannah and his grandchildren carry close to their hearts.
